The scriptures do not forbid Christians from drinking, anything like wine, beer or drinks containing alcohol, What the Bible does guide you to do is to remain from it's results that can take place, like addiction and being drunk. Some scriptures discuss drinking in positive terms. Ecclesiastes 9:7, "drink your wine with a merry heart". Psalm 104: 14-15, says it makes the heart of men glad. Amos 9:14 discusses drinking wine from your own vineyards a sign of God's blessing.  Avoid drunkenness, Ephesians 5:18 and the results Proverbs 23:29-35. Plus we are not to allow our bodies to be mastered by anything, 1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19.

Drinking in excess is undeniably addictive and we may offend other Christians or encourage them to sin against their conscience. Think about it for a minute...it would be difficult to drink in excess and then say it is to the glory of God, 1 Corinthians 10:31. JESUS turned water into wine, it seems that he drank wine on occasion see John 2:1-11, Matthew 26:29. Also in the New Testament times water was not very good, without sanitation, and often people drank wine or grape juice because it was safer. This is recorded in 1 Timothy 5:23 where Paul was instructing Timothy to stop drinking water and instead drink wine, for his stomach. Doctors today even suggest drinking small quantities for health reasons. Let your freedom guide you. It is often best for a Christian to abstain from drinking alcohol.
